Water, Sanitation, and Solar Power
In the United States and Europe, our utility companies and municipalities provide us with electricity, running water, and sewer services. These basics of modern life are hard to come by in the Grand Colline region of Haiti.
Clean water and good sanitation are an essential element in promoting health for the people of Cherident. Walking miles for contaminated water and carrying it on their heads is commonplace in Haiti. With the help of Living Waters, HHP is arranging for the drilling of a water well in Cherident.
As in most of rural Haiti, there is no electricity in Cherident. HHP has helped to install solar panel in buildings for Floresta and is working on a solar panel installation for the clinic. In the meantime, a generator provides the needed power.
